New Clare Teal Album Out Now!

Happy Sunday folks!

As many of you may already know, our latest release with Clare Teal At Your Request is officially out now and available in all the usual stores online.

At Your Request

We completed recording the album at the end of last year and it features a stella lineup including a four-piece horn section (Sam Mayne, Dave O’Higgins, Martin Shaw and Ashley Horton) alongside the regular trio of myself, Grant Windsor and Ben Reynolds.

The repertoire consists of all those songs we’ve developed in the live show over the last couple of years that have yet to feature on record including Van Morrison’s The Way Young Lovers Do and Dory Previn’s Twenty-Mile Zone. It’s the final recording with Grant as he has now moved back to Australia.

We officially launched the album at the Cadogan Hall show last Saturday with the ‘mini big band’ as featured on the record. We’ll be doing a few more dates later on in the year with the same band, as well as the Hollywood-style orchestra’s Doris Day show and the new trio featuring the awesome Jason Rebello.

You can grab your copy of At Your Request  from Amazon or Clare’s very own Bandcamp site, where you can also find all the recent recordings. Here’s a little handy Bandcamp player so you can have a listen. Hopefully see you at a show soon…

The Divine Comedy Philharmonie Show Live Stream Tomorrow Night!

Good evening folks,

I’m about to head off to catch the tourbus over to Paris and I thought it would be prudent at this juncture to alert you to the fact that you will be able to stream tomorrow night’s big Paris show via the Arte website.

Philharmonie de Paris Ext

The Divine Comedy return once again to play the rather stunning Philharmonie de Paris tomorrow night to a sold out house so if you still want to see he show the live stream is your best bet. Located in the Parc de la Villette, the venue had it’s opening ceremony only a month ago so we’ll be one of the first bands to play there. Very cool indeed. I can’t wait to get a look at this place; the main hall looks a bit like this…

Grande salle - Philharmonie de Paris

Yikes. There will be pics. Our first set is at 8.30pm (that’s Paris time so 7.30 here in the UK) so make sure you’re tuned in. As far as I can tell at this stage the link for tomorrow’s live stream is HERE on the Arte website. If it turns out I’m wrong and you know better please post the link in the comments for everybody else. I might be busy…

Keep your eyes peeled on my Twitter feed and/or my Facebook page for the usual running commentary from the frontline! Wish us luck…

Diva Returns to Hideaway This Weekend

Hello gang,

Long time no blog. Sorry about that.

Anyway, thought I’d drop a very quick post to let you know that our Diva show is returning to Hideaway this Friday and Saturday. We’ve got four fantastic vocalists including Elaine Delmar, Heidi Vogel, Sulene Fleming and Chris Royal alongside a great house band. With me in it obviously.

If you haven’t been to one of the Diva shows yet this is your chance. It’s a great opportunity to check out some of London’s top singers in one show. There’s always a range of different music to enjoy and often features brand new arrangements from our MD Janette Mason.

Here’s a video from one of last year’s Diva shows featuring the awesome Elaine Delmar…

And if that news wasn’t exciting enough for you, I’ll be back at Hideaway next weekend for our Bowie night featuring David McAlmont and Sam Obernik. I’ll probably drop a separate post about that nearer the time to remind you.

You can get more information and book tickets for the Diva shows directly from the Hideaway website, or just buy them at the door. They might sell out though so I’d get booking if I were you.

Hopefully see some of you there!

Simon
